ジム歴の長いAkiくん、将来大きい船の船長になるため海技士の免許を取得中。英語の試験もあるらしくみてみましたが、海技士2級の英語試験みてみましたが、すごく難しいです。ソーラス条約等を2問を2時間かけて翻訳する試験らしいです。合格点は6~7割くらい。辞書持ち込みOkですが、持ち込んでもかなり難解な内容です。ということでインタージム&スクールのスクール部門で英語も始めました。7月の試験に向けての短期ですが一緒に頑張っていきましょう。下に例題を載せておきます。 二級海技士問題例 (制限時間2時間) 次の英文を日本文になおせ。 問題(1) (a) In eras of high traffic density, in conditions restricted visibility and in all other hazardous navigational situations where the automatic pilot is used, it shall be possible to establish human control of the ship’s steering immediately. (b) In circumstances above, it shall be possible for the officer of the watch to have available without delay the services of qualified helmsman who shall be ready at all times to take over steering control. (c) The change-over from automatic to manual steering and vice versa shall be made by or under the supervision of a responsible officer. (d) The manual steering shall be tested after prolonged use of the automatic pilot, and before entering areas where navigation demands special caution. 問題(2) “Instantaneous rate of discharge of oil content”means the rate of discharge of oil in liters per hour at any instant, divided by the speed of the vessel in knots at the same instant. “Segregated ballast”means the ballast water introduced into a tank that is completely separated from the cargo oil and oil fuel system and that is permanently allocated to the carriage of ballast. “Slop tank”means a vessel that is constructed or converted to carry liquid bulk or cargoes in tanks and includes tankers, tankships, tank barges, integrated tug barges, and combination carriers when carrying oil cargoes in bulk.
